FDA Rules on Mercury Fillings
Last week the Federal Drug Administration ruled that the use of Mercury in the mouth for Mercury-Silver fillings, known as Amalgams, is safe. This came as a surprise to some anti-Amalgam groups who have claimed that the Mercury can cause many maladies in humans. Even President Obama had made statements against Mercury exposure.(See below Articles and Links) The FDA made this ruling after review of documents showing adverse effects of Mercury in higher exposures. They felt smaller amounts of Mercury would be safe.
Even though the FDA ruled that the use of Mercury is safe in the mouth, (but, not in the water, air, or spilled on the floor), many people are still leery of having Mercury placed into their mouths. Some have had their old Mercury fillings replaced with gold inlays, porcelain inlays, or resin fillings to ease their fears of the Mercury in their mouths.

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009, the FDA “issued a final regulation classifying dental amalgam and its component parts – elemental mercury and a powder alloy—used in dental fillings. While elemental mercury has been associated with adverse health effects at high exposures, the levels released by dental amalgam fillings are not high enough to cause harm in patients. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1981. 3 hospitalizations, 8 different medications including oral and intravenous chemotherapy for MS, experimental Plasmaphoresis, bedridden for 10 years, slurred speech and dying. I had my dental amalgam mercury "silver" fillings removed and guess what? All symptoms gradually disappeared, NO medication, NO relapses, NO symptoms, except this left me in a wheelchair! This happened 2 weeks after all amalgam fillings were removed. Prior to mercury dental removal I had 1 to 3 relapses per year and haven't had 1 relapse since 1989.
I have been in contact with people since 1996 regarding their symptoms of mercury toxicity. The diseases encompass a wide range of symptoms from autoimmunity to heart problems etc. Unfortunately, some symptoms like mine manifest later in life. According to Dr. Boyd Haley, former Professor and Chair of Chemistry at the University of Kentucky and renowned toxicologist, says there are NO SAFE LEVELS OF MERCURY.
Amalgams contain 50% mercury, a poison and a neuro-toxin. A cross and skull bones with the word poison are on the label when the mercury comes into the dentists' office. Contraindication
The use of amalgam is contraindicated;
♦. In proximal or occlusal contact to dissimilar metal restorations.
♦. In patients with severe renal deficiency.
♦. In patients with known allergies to amalgam
♦. For retrograde or endodontic filling.
♦. As a filling material for cast crown.
♦. In children 6 and under.
♦. In expectant mothers.
Side Effects/Warning

Exposure to mercury may cause irritation to skin, eyes, respiratory tract and mucous membrane. In individual cases, hypersensitivity reactions, allergies, or electrochemically caused local reactions have been observed. Due to electrochemical processes, the lichen planus of the mucosa may develop.
Mercury may also be a skin sensitizer, pulmonary sensitizer, nephrotoxin and neurotoxin.
After placement or removal of amalgam restorations, there is a temporary increase of the mercury concentration in the blood and urine.
Mercury expressed during condensation and unset amalgam may cause amalgamation or galvanic effect if in contact with other metal restorations. If symptoms persist, the amalgam should be replaced by a different material.
Removal of clinically acceptable amalgam restorations should be avoided to minimize mercury exposure, especially in expectant mothers.
Precautions
♦ The number of amalgam restorations for one patient should be kept to a minimum.
♦ Inhalation of mercury vapor by dental staff may be avoided by proper handling of the amalgam, the use of masks, along with adequate ventilation.
♦ Avoid contact with skin and wear safety glasses and gloves.
♦ Store amalgam scrap in well sealed containers. Regulations for disposal must be observed.

I was going to post a similar comment but I think Linda pretty much said it all...lol...so I'll take a slightly different tack and just say mercury in Vaccines is a VBT.
VBT = Very Bad Thing.
The statement, "THERE ARE NO SAFE LEVELS OF MERCURY" in the human is absolutely true. Particularly in the small humans we often call children.
Mercury in your teeth also a VBT.
I remember our chemistry teacher getting quite upset with us when we were playing with liquid mercury and going off on a very long dissertation on how foolish and stupid were were being for not handling it like the toxic substance it was. He was a very "cool" guy otherwise so it made quite an impression when he flew off the handle like that. It was the only time he ever accused us of being stupid.
I got mercury put in my mouth without my knowledge I thought it was just silver. When I was educated about it I actually asked a dentist NOT to use silver amalgam and they did it anyway. I now have a son who needs a filing; he will not get mercury even though the last dentist we went to tried to sell us on it and said silver amalgam was the ONLY option. This caused me to become angry; however I think I can turn this into a VGT.

I do "internet marketing." It is time to put my talents to work for the VERY FEW dentists on Maui who eschew mercury in favor of a sane approach.
It is nice to see there are people who understand it's ill effects. I went to the Gerson Clinic in Sedona and they had quite a bit of information about the links between bad dentistry and cancer. They had several case studies where, somewhat like Linda, the cancer "went away" after the mercury was removed or after root canals were fixed and dead teeth removed.
The FDA has become a joke. They are controlled by bankers and corporations and will go against common sense and medical knowledge to protect profits. Sadly, quite a few dentists on MAUI will use this ruling to assuage their conscience when they reflect on their sacred oath to DO NO HARM.
Here is a website that I am currently working on (it's still under construction) that talks about using social media to promote local business (and why you should use my services). I am however passionate enough about this issue that I am going to try and get a the few dentists on Maui who don't use mercury to use simple web marketing to attract clients and educate them about MERCURY. I can't do it for free but I can do it for a severe discount and via unorthodox business practice like they don't pay a dime until you see the results of my work translated into actual paying clients, or patients in this case. The way I look at it, every one I get for a dentist that doesn't use mercury is one less for a dentist that does.
I think it is synchronicity because I was just building a page (it's not up yet) that talked about the best costumers for a social media manager and near top of the list were dentists and I thought to myself, "I don't want to promote a dentist who uses mercury." Then my son needs a filling. Then a dentist tells his mother mercury is not just the best option but the ONLY option.
